Due to the large number of comments on some posts, and the need to ensure comments meet publication standards (see the second and third paragraphs of our comment policy), we are, at least for the moment, moderating all comments.
That means that after you post a comment, it needs to be read and approved by the site administrator before it will be published.
It’s not our intent to cut off debate: all comments that meet our policy will be published as quickly as we can get to them, but some may be edited.

Chronicle journalists are wandering down some backroads and poking into the corners of Vancouver’s vibrant music scene to bring back stories of some music, and from some places and people, you may not have heard about. On newsstands Nov. 7.
Eco club shows free movie Thursday
Garbage Warrior!, the movie that won the Audience Award at last year’s Vancouver International Film Festival, will be shown Thursday, Oct. 16, in room 2550A at the Richmond campus.
Garbage Warrior! is a documentary about the work of radical eco-architect Michael Reynolds and his efforts to build off-grid self-sufficient communities.
The free screening is courtesy of SAFE, the Kwantlen students’ environmental club.
Richmond, Surrey drivers get vandalism warning

The Surrey and Richmond campuses have seen a number of instances of vandalism to cars over the past few days. Security was informed immediately and has increased patrols at both campuses.

Webcasting the inauguration

As the official ceremonies for the inauguration of Kwantlen Polytechnic University roll-outs Friday, some folks may be able to watch it on their computer.
The university is webcasting Friday’s ceremonies. According to the web:

Optimized for iPhone, iTouch (update)

If everything has gone according to plan, this site should now be optimized for viewing on an iPhone or iPod Touch. We don’t know for sure, though, because the editor has misplaced his iPod Touch and can’t test it.
Update: The editor found his iPod Touch and the new feature works fine. You don’t have do anything special: the WordPress plugin detects someone browsing via an iPhone and sends an optimized version of the site.
Want to work on the border?

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is out to recruit Student Border Service Officers. Students with at least two years of full-time accredited post-secondary and who have been full-time are eligible for the positions.
The CBSA will have information tables on campus at Kwantlen Tuesday, Sept. 16, at in the Richmond campus rotunda, and the following day on the second floor of Building B at Surrey, from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. both days.
